Biography

To quickly introduce myself and my life, please settle down in front of a roaring fire, munch on roasted chestnuts, and dump the eggnog down the drain so you can chug the rum straight. Then Please share your thoughts and opinions with me....
Welcome to ExecutiveMom's Blog. As the title tells you, I'm a full time working mom. There, that was easy. I often write under the name of Kimberly Cheryl, just to confuse people and seem important. I guess Kimberly looks more literary than Kim, but Kim I am to everybody I meet, except my kids. To them I'm Mom, at least to my face. No doubt they have other names for an exasperating pain in the butt like me but they've got the decency to keep those amongst themselves. Or to people who drive the same roads I do here in town. They've got a lot of names for me, some of them quite imaginative I'm sure. Currently, I have the body of an 18 year old but it's hidden in the trunk of my car and I am smarter than my 5th grader but getting dumber every day.
Yes, my teenager may think that I have the IQ of a pea, her room is always a mess, and my only perceived value to her is my ability to chauffeur her from point A to point B without being embarrassing. Yet, by studying her natural behavior, I learned some valuable life lessons. Teenagers are careful about how they expend their energy: "Will killing myself for this course get me a good grade? Do I care? How much money will I make if I shovel the snow? What am I giving up?" Like a teenager, I have begun to evaluate every time commitment in terms of what personal needs and priorities it will satisfy. It's not that I've been working too little but have been working too hard by taking on too many commitments and forgetting the ability to say "NO" when I'm overwhelmed. This eye-rolling teenager of mine also has no particular loyalty to, or understanding of, how things are always done or should be done, nor much concern for authority. The best ideas and solutions do not come from corporate-thinking but are truly inventive by virtue of their independence. Due to this I've decided to "break the rules" and move outside the “corporate box” - I've decided to celebrate my own style and personality! Life is too short....so I am going to be "owned my me", I am going to manage my life and my responsibilities. I am going to be loyal to my clients and new employees. I am going to fight against injustice, corporate abuse and time wasters which pump up bloated egos. I am going to passionately defend my point of view. I am going to make time for myself and I am going to celebrate being a woman.
As I work, I continue to try to keep it all together… albeit loosely. I’ve also managed to get my Red Bull and Dr Pepper caffeine addiction under control as I’m now down to just 8 cans a day. There are days when trying to keep up with the “Joneses” is wearing me down and as I think about the chaos that seems to rush my years one into the other, but I'm A Hopeful "Child"- one who really does love her mini-van driving, soccer mom life and wouldn’t know what to do if she did have any free time on her hands!

At any rate, after a career as a pharmaceutical rep (18 years), I decided to Escape the "corporate nightmare" and start a new "midlife" adventure on my own.
In addition to being a published author (you can find me at http://www.kimberlycheryl.net) and repeat radio show guest speaking on the health industry and safety issues, my corporation, Executive Defense Technology at http://www.execdeftech.com , provides hands on awareness training (or as my husband calls it - anti-victimization seminars); self defense classes through Rape/Aggression/Defense (RAD.
My blog focuses on Self-defense tips, news, items and much more to protect yourself, your loved ones, children and home. The mission of EDT is simple - empowering you to fight back against crime. How? By providing you training and education in:
• Awareness
• Prevention
• Risk reduction
• Risk avoidance; and
• Self-realization of your own physical power
I am a tireless advocate of self-reliance and responsibility, encouraging individuals to actively protect life through awareness and education. My husband and I created EDT to share information, resources, training and advice about safety and survival to individuals of all ages so they can cope with living in a dangerous world. The one thing I know for sure is we are all brought onto this earth for a certain calling, a unique purpose…everyone of us is called, we each have something we can offer. A "thing" only we can do. This life of education has always been my husband's as a parole/ probation officer and as a Tactics and Firearms trainer for our State. Together we hope we can use his education to help law abiding citizens learn how "not to be a victim of crime" and incorporate the safety habits we discuss into their daily routines.

Finally, I really enjoy reading your stories and responses to what has been written, but if you feel that you must send me something hateful…please remember this is a personal blog and while I understand you may disagree with me on many topics, there is an obvious difference between disagreement and hate. If you are having feelings that you want to cause me harm, please take a step away from your computer and take your pills. I take mine! Have a great day and enjoy!
